$825M Is Capacity, Not Cash

Online lenders do not warehouse cash from credit facilities. They deploy the capital to fund new consumer and small-business loans, hold them briefly on the balance sheet, then securitize or sell. The facility is origination capacity: more loans per quarter without issuing equity or diluting shareholders. For a company at Enova's growth clip, that structure is everything.

At 36.7% YoY revenue growth to $1.8 billion TTM, Enova was already pressing against what existing lines could support. Counterparty banks extending that credit line on new terms are, in effect, underwriting the same origination thesis management is pitching to equity investors.

The Market Is Pricing ENVA Like a Regional Bank

The detail buried under the credit headline: ENVA trades at 8.2x forward earnings on $13.47 trailing EPS. A software company at this growth rate commands 30x or more. Even mature fintechs with slower top lines rarely trade this cheaply. The forward P/E divided by revenue growth rate works out to roughly 0.22, a spread more typical of distressed cyclicals than a company printing that top-line growth.

That discount reflects real risk: nonprime consumer credit is cyclically exposed, and an economic downturn would test ENVA's underwriting in ways a larger credit facility cannot offset. But at 8.2x on that revenue growth, the valuation gap is striking. Run the numbers through our DCF calculator to size the margin of safety under a stress scenario.

Insiders Took $7.4M Off the Table

Steven Cunningham exercised options worth $1.59 million and sold 15,305 shares. Total insider disposals in the period exceeded $7.4 million. Options-exercise sales are frequently pre-planned and tax-driven rather than a directional call on the stock. But if the credit facility signals a credible bull case for origination volume, no insider chose to buy into it.

That absence is not a verdict. It is a data point worth holding.

One Number Would Break the Bull Case

The thesis is simple: Enova is growing fast, trading cheaply, and just secured capacity to grow faster. The single number that would break it is origination volume in the next quarter. If the facility sits underutilized because loan demand softens or credit quality deteriorates, that multiple stops looking like a discount and starts looking like a warning.

Watch origination volume, not headline EPS, when results land.
