The numbers
  • $400mn combined revenue target, vs. SOUN's $169mn TTM revenue today
  • Forward P/E of -926.5x: the market is paying for a story, not earnings
  • Q1 2026 earnings land May 7, the next catalyst that matters

What Actually Happened

SoundHound and LivePerson announced a tie-up that bundles SoundHound's voice-AI agents with LivePerson's enterprise messaging stack, with management framing $400mn as the combined revenue runway. SOUN, which had been sitting roughly 66% below its high near $9.27, ripped on the headline. The Casey's General Stores drive-thru rollout, which has been quietly expanding across more locations, is the second leg of the bull case. The mechanism is simple: LivePerson hands SoundHound a built-in roster of large enterprise contact-center customers it would otherwise have to win one logo at a time.

The Catch

$400mn is a target, not a contract. LivePerson itself has been a turnaround story for years, and combining two unprofitable companies' revenue ambitions is not the same as combining two profitable books of business. SOUN's own forward P/E of -926.5x is not a typo: it reflects a market cap priced for a future that hasn't shown up in cash flow yet. Every dollar of that $400mn has to clear a credibility bar that voice-AI vendors, broadly, have struggled to meet.

Bottom Line

This is more interesting for growth investors than value investors, and it's a bet on distribution rather than technology. If SoundHound can attach to even a fraction of LivePerson's enterprise base, the $169mn TTM number gets stale quickly. If it can't, the May 7 print will tell on it. The one number to watch on May 7: FY2026 revenue guidance, and whether management is willing to formally bake any LivePerson contribution into it. Anything short of that, and the rally is sentiment, not substance.
